Holiday Shopping Time O' Year :)

Happy Monday everyone!

I cannot believe Thanksgiving is next week already!

Just a quick reminder that not all, but many of the gifts on Pug Notes and Dog Art Studio are custom made for you and take 2 to 3 weeks for production and delivery time.

If you want any of these items for the holidays, please order before December 5th to be sure to receive them by Christmas eve.

All of the items that ship directly from the manufacturer or publisher say so in green at the bottom of the individual product page.

Items that ship from my location can be ordered until December 17th shipped by priority mail to safely arrive by Christmas eve.

If you have any questions please email me anytime. I have hired Emmitt as my holiday pug elf and he is helping me to ship every order. I pay him in Cheerios so he is excited to come to work everyday.

A Dog Art Auction, A Contest and Friends!

I have lots of fun stuff to share with you today!

The first thing is to announce that the Dogs Rule Book Auction has finally begun. Remember that wonderful collaborative project I was in with 12 other artists this summer? Well, the 13th copy is up for auction to raise money for A Place to Bark.

If you wanted your very own copy, here is your chance to get it and help a wonderful dog and cat shelter in TN run by one of the artists, Bernie Berlin. Please click here for your chance to have your own copy of Dogs Rule!

Rebecca Collins of Art Paw made this wonderful video introducing you to Bernie, A Place to Bark and the inside details of the Dogs Rule Book and artists who created it.

The page I created for the book.

The second exciting thing I get to share is that another one of the artists that created the Dogs Rule Book, Moira McLaughlin, is running a contest on her blog, Dog Art Today.
Email her a picture of your dog before Tuesday, November 18th for her Dog Art Today Flickr Album and you will be entered in her contest to win a free mug!

Click on the picture below to get all of the details...

and the final exciting bit of news is that another one of the talented artists from the Dogs Rule book project came to Colorado last week and we got to meet and have some coffee in front of the beautiful Boulder, CO landscape.

Rebecca Collins runs Art Paw and is also a talented Vlogger and Blogger. She is the wonderful artist who interviewed me about Pug Notes a few months ago and who made the video above about the Dogs Rule Project.

It was so fun to meet her and her husband Dan in person. I love the network of friends I have met over the years over through blogging and Pug Notes.

Thank you to everyone who reads my blog and shares their lives, dogs and stories with me. You make my world a wonderful place to be.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Art Appreciation!

I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many talented people who inspire me! I love to visit people's blogs and see what they are up to everyday. Two of my favorite artists recently had art giveaways and guess what?... I won!

Meet Brenda Pinnick

Both Brenda and Robin are artists who are not only masters of their craft but are also brilliant business women as well. I learn something new from them everyday! Thank you both for the gorgeous Giclee prints. How did I get so lucky?

Melanie has been busy creating too. She made this beautiful plate embellished with an applique fabric center and also completed another project that she has been working on for 5 years...

... an amazing wool embroidery!

Her stitches are just perfect. This piece is large measuring 15 x 18 framed.

I had alot of fun framing it for her as I used to be a picture framer many years ago. :)

I am so lucky to know so many wonderful people and get to appreciate their individual talents. It makes amy life a wonderful place to be!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Fiber Art Friday ... A New Pug Doll

I am so excited to announce my new pug art dolls made from my original handcarved pug design.

I created the 100% cotton fabric on an amazing website called spoonflower.com. My friend Brenda Pinnick told me about them and I cannot thank her enough!

Spoonflower.com is a new company that prints your designs on fabric on demand! Their quality, customer service and website are wonderful, exciting and inspiring!

Now absolutely everyone can make their own custom fabric even from family photographs!

I happily cut, sewed and stuffed these dolls and am proud to offer them in my Etsy Shop.

Here are some of the details...

Each doll is approximately 5 x 9 inches. The backing is also cotton fabric in assorted whimsical & colorful patterns chosen by me. The exact design will be a surprise revealed to you when you open your package. :)

So, what do you think of the new dolls? Emmitt and I would love to hear! I am so excited about them that I am off to sew some more.

Happy Friday everyone!

Fabric Sketchbook Journal - Week 2

We created sketch books this week. I know I say this every week, but this is my new favorite structure!
It uses full sheets of paper to draw on instead of folded books and has binder rings to add more paper when needed! It also has a row of pockets on the bottom to hold pencils, papers and found objects. To make the row of pockets, I used the pug /dog fabric I bought months ago to make craft aprons.
For the cover and lining, I used the fabrics I bought on Etsy from Uberstitch . I finished it with a ceramic button from my super talented friend Tara Ross.

I love how the theme turned out to be a Retro Urban Dog Park with pugs!
Melanie's journal is wonderful too. She used our favorite owl fabric on the outside and vintage fabric that she bought years ago from a quilt store in Leadville, CO for the inside pockets.

I am definitely going to make more of these journals. They are easy to make, functional, fun and they have pockets! What more could I ask for? :)
I cannot wait until Friday when our week 3 lesson arrives in my inbox.
To make this journal yourself, Click here to see all of Sue B's classes. This one is week 2 from Journal Making for the Fiber Artist.
The classes are well written and very easy to do. If I can do them, anyone can.
Most of the journals are made by ironing fusible web to a stiffner and then very easy straight line stitching on the sewing machine to finish the edges.
What are you working on this week? Please leave me a comment and let me know. I would love to hear all about it!

From the Desk of...

What a fun find! In addition to making my postcards and business cards on Vista Print, I just made myself some note pads for writing little notes.
They just arrived and the print quality and prices are just amazing!

I love everything I get from them which includes all of my business cards, post cards, raffle cards, and car door magnets.

If you need anything printed, Vista Print is the place to go! :)

Do you have any favorite websites that make you happy and your life easier? Please leave a comment and let me know! I would love to hear!

oh! and Emmitt says if you would like to pee-mail him your winter sweater/coat pictures, he is all ready to post them on wednesday. He is very excited. He has his crayons out (I am not sure why, i'll have to show him how to post the entry) and keeps woofing something that sounds like Wednesday.... I think he is very excited!

Emmitt and Moe Sweaters!

Look at these wonderful hand knit sweaters Melanie got for Moe and Emmitt! She got them from an amazing artist on Etsy ... Knitopia.
They are so beautifully made that for a split second, I hestitated to put Emmitt in it as I knew it would never be so perfect again the way my fluff ball sheds.
No worries, I quickly snapped out of it and put him in his new beautiful wool sweater.
Mel's wonderful idea came from a childhood memory of a family friend who loved to knit. She was our first exposure to the fiber arts and used to make us sweaters just like this for us with our names running through them. Unfortunately we do not have any of the original sweaters but Mel made me and herself one too! They are a perfect memory brought back to life! Thank you Melly!

Here is our photo shoot of the gorgeous sweaters. If you would like one for your 2 or 4 footed child, please visit Vanessa at Knitopia. She is amazing!

Happy Corgi! Melly calls this move, "Joy Boy"!

Here is my sweater that I have diplayed in my sewing room so I can see it all the time!

See... there are a few pug hairs but no harm done! HA!

What do your pets wear to keep them warm this winter season? Emmitt and I would love to know. Please email us pictures and we will create a blog post featuring everyone's styles!

How Fun!
