Happy New Year's Eve!

I want to wish everyone a happy and safe New Year's celebration. It is almost 2008!

Fred and I planned a little vacation months ago to go to California for a few days. I cannot believe it, but it is now the first week in January and we are packing our bags for a little R &R. :)

We are so excited! I am not sure where these funny little owls came from in my imagination, but I made them this weekend from scraps of felt, vintage fabric and some button and beads.

I think they are to keep an eye on Emmitt while we are away.

He will be staying with his cousin corgi, Moe. Oh the trouble these two can get into...

See You Next Year!

Fun News!

My hand carved stamps are going to be published!

I am so excited! I just received the news that my hand carved pug stamped cards will be in a new book, 1000 Handmade Greeting Cards.

I entered the contest through a post I read on Etsy. I believe they are still accepting entries, and the book will be published sometime next year.

Speaking of carving stamps, I had the pleasure of carving Miss Maisie for my friend, Linda.

It is fun to change the effect by printing them on different color and textures of paper.

Here are 3 cards I made and the stamp itself carved out of PZ-Kut.

Here is a Stamp I made of my sister's corgi, Moe.

And my favorite stamp I created, a self portrait of me and Emmitt.

My First Altered Book is Done!

I am so excited with my completed art book. I finished the pages with decorative papers, photos, new pop ups and paper dolls, silk ribbons and beaded pockets.

Silk ribbons tie the pages together.

Decorative papers and photos.

Paper pug dolls with moving arms!

Back of book with decorative papers and date of completion.

Final page with 3-D pug embellisment, pug transfer, decorative paper and photo pop up of Emmitt.

Here is where I have chosen to display my book so I can see it all the time.

It was so much fun that I have already started my new book!
Emmitt says he should be in the next book too because he has such a cute face!
I immediately told him of course!
More to come!

A Day of Art & History in Denver

Last week, I was totally inspired by my friend Moira from Dog Art Today to go out and see some art. We have such a beautiful museum, and I had not been there for about a year!
I invited Fred, Melanie and Mark to lunch and to see Color As Field at the Denver Art Museum, and then to head over to the Museum of Nature and Science to see the Imax movie Ghost of the Abyss about the Titanic and the to see the sold out exhibit of Titanic Artifacts.
It was a wonderful day. What more could you ask for? Family, Food, Art and History.

Pictures from inside the Denver Art Museum.

Emmitt was so happy to see us when we got home from our day in Denver. It was dinner time!

The Best Gift ... Ever!

I received the most wonderful, generous, and beautiful present from my friend Linda.

She painted my Emmitt and surprised Fred, Emmitt and me with it yesterday. She created it from a photo she took of Emmitt this Fall and even collaged one of my paintings in as a charm on his collar. My heart just sings with joy everytime I see it. I hung it in the most visable and accessible place in the house so I can see it upclose all of the time.

Thank you again Linda. I will cherish this painting forever! :)

Happy Holidays!

Lotus Books - Craft Day December 2007

Melanie and I held our second Craft Day today and made Lotus books. They are elegant and so easy to make.

Now Melanie knows how easy it is to make the Holiday Cards I made this year. The pug, oops... I mean the cat is out of the bag.

Speaking of Melanie and Holiday gifts, the Aero Garden she and Mark gave us is really working!
Look at our herbs grow! This is after only two weeks...

Emmitt is so excited! See him sing!
