The Steamboat Balloon Festival - 2009

Melanie and I just love the Steamboat Balloon Festival! We woke up early on Saturday morning and arrived just in time to see all the balloons lift off of the field.

Here is a short video for you to see and hear!

After the balloons all floated away, we went to the Art in the Park art fair and bought these wonderful cement-resin-glass pots already brimming with plants. They can sit flat or hang on the wall! Living Art!

After the art fair we walked around downtown Steamboat and went shopping!
I told Melanie that in 2005 when Fred, Emmitt and I vactioned in Steamboat, we met a pug named Earl. He lives in a shop called Embellishments. We found it and guess who was there to greet us!

Earl!

What a sweet puggy!

Here he is in 2005 playing with Emmitt. He was a little puppy then!

Melanie and I had the perfect weekend.

Crochet, balloons, mountains, wildflowers, art, shopping and Earl the Pug!

Life is good! :)

Hi Melissa and Emmitt,
What great photos! I am especially partial to the cowboy balloon. Also love those planters. They look heavy though - hope you didn't carry them all around the art fair! A craft weekend with my sisters sounds heavenly. Maybe even just a craft day - you've got me thinking!

Oh Melissa, I lived in New Mexico once and woke up one morning to find all the hot air balloons landing right outside my window and it was breathtaking. I bet Earl remembered you perfectly and wanted to know where his buddy Emmy was!!! I love those planters, they are going to be so cool at your house.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Us homebodies are enjoying it vicariously! : )

Those balloons are so cool! There used to be a few that would take off and land near my house but I haven't seen it in years.

Earl is adorable!

Awesome pictures! Those balloons are so beautiful and they look even better with the mountains in the background (we don't have any mountains here in Indy)! What a great time you had!
