Cute Crochet Critters ~ Meet the Happy Hamsters ~ Ming & Teddy!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

R-Chee & I had so much FUN making these cute little crochet hamsters for our friend Lynne in the UK!

She just adopted 2 super cute and lucky hammies named Ming and Teddy!

I thought it would be so FUN to surprise her with two little dolls of her new babies!

I found this wonderful & free easy crochet pattern and adapted them a bit to make them look like the hammies!

I cannot tell you how much joy that brings to my heart!

Crochet Stacking Doll ~ 4 Free Patterns from PetalstoPicots.com

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I had so much FUN making this baby doll from a Free Pattern for a set of stacking dolls generously shared by Petals to Picots!

There are 4 sizes to make up the set...

Baby  ~ Small ~ Medium ~ Large

The supply list

You can use any combo of colors and make the set your own creation!

I used bits of scrap yarn from my stash of acrylic yarn and used wool needlepoint yarn and seed beads to embroider the details and hair on her. :)

I just love how she turned out!

I gave this little one to a friend as a surprise and plan to make the whole set!

Tiny Crochet Turtle Box ~ Free Pattern from Popsdemilk.com

Happy Monday everyone!

I had so much FUN making this wonderful & whimsical tiny turtle box!

I just love how he turned out! 

I could not wait to share him with you and the Free Pattern so you could make one too!

Friday Funnies ~ Archie is a Doll Baby!

Happy Friday everyone!

It is me... 

R-Chee!

I have a new soft friend to introduce you to today!

Can you tell which one is me and which one is my new friend?

I'll give you a hint...

He is dressed much more colorful outfit than me today! :)

The best part is...

You can make one too with this Free Pattern.

Mom adapted it from this easy bunny doll pattern she found on The Sewing Loft Blog.

All she did to change it was to leave off the bunny ears and cut puggy shapes out of scrap leather pieces and glue them on the front!

This wonderful pattern is so fast and FUN to make all sorts of dolls with!

Auntie Melanie made the bunny from felted cashmere sweater scraps she had in her fabric stash!

It is the perfect way to use up small amounts of  your favorite fabrics!

You can easily make a whole zoo of characters just by changing the ears and faces!

Look WHOOOO's Here! ~ FUN Crochet Owl Exchange

Happy Wednesday everyone!

How FUN!

Look WHOOOOO just flew in from the UK?

My friend Lynne made this wonderful owl ornament for me and I made this one for her...

We used this FREE Owl Ornament Crochet Pattern she found to make them for each other!

Aren't they cute?

The pattern is super FUN and easy to do!

Infact, I have used the circle body part of the owls for two other projects that I enjoy everyday!

I made a window treatment and a change purse with these handy circles.

It is so FUN to find things you like and rework the use or idea to make it your own!

My Pug Pillow Case Project - Sweet Dreams Napping Pug Fabric

Happy Monday everyone!

R-Chee and I had so much FUN with our New Sweet Dreams - Napping Pug Fabric that we showed you on Friday!

We made a pillow case from 1 yard of the fabric using this free pillow case tutorial!

It was a Fast & Easy project  that made us smile from ear to ear!

I could not wait to share it with you to enjoy too!

Here is a close up of our new fabric for you to see all of the napping pugs!

R-Chee inspired my original drawing that is also available as note cards and address labels for you to enjoy.

... and here is our finished pillow case all ready for tonight's sleep! :)

R-Chee wants to break it in right now so I will fluff up the pillow for his afternoon nap!

You can use 1 yard of our 100% cotton pug fabrics or any other cotton, flannel or fleece fabric that you like for this wonderful and rewarding sewing project that is perfect for beginners as well as expert sewers.

R-Chee and I are definite beginners with our sewing machine and had so much FUN making ours.

Crochet Chicken Basket ~ Henny Penny Free Pattern from Drops Yarn

Happy Monday everyone!

I am so excited to show you the new project I just finished!

Cluck! Cluck!

It is a Chicken Basket!

I made it from this Fabulous & FUN Free Pattern from Drops Yarn!

It is a simple and very well written pattern that I just added a couple of ideas to to make it more of my own!

I will show you the photos of what I added below.

As you can see from the first photo, it is a basic basket shape that easily increases in the round as you go.

I love the simple design, retro colors and European feel the project has!

Drops Yarn has a USA Superstore  - Nordic Mart - in CA that has a wonderful website & service!

Drops yarn and prices are incredible, and they are running a 35% off sale for the month of May 2013 on all of their wool yarn!

Here is the "wing" that is attached to flap over the top opening.

I made mine a bit bigger because...

I changed mine up a bit by inserting a basket inside to give it structure and a handle!

It is easily removed by just opening the wing flip top and pulling it out.

I also added an extra flower in the center of the wing with a vintage yellow button sewn inside for extra texture, interest and retro feel.

It matches the...

... vintage red & yellow buttons I sewed together to make a button closure that attaches to  one if the flower petal loops sewn on the front to the basket so that it will stay securely closed around the basket.

The last thing I added to the design was to close off the head opening that they left open in the pattern to keep the polyfil stuffing from falling out of the head.

To do this, I just crocheted a granny circle and chose yellow and white to look like a slice of hard boiled egg. :)

R-Chee was an excellent helper!

He asked if it could be a picnic basket filled with Fried Chicken!

What a good idea R-Chee!
