New Crochet Succulent Garden!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I am so excited about the new succulent garden I just crocheted inspired by the wonderful patterns I purchased from June Gilbank at PlanetJune.com

I placed it inside of one of my favorite planters where all of the live succulent plants had kind of well... died.

I just love making wool terrariums and gardens as these will never die and I do not have to add water for them to be beautiful and ALIVE with color!

For  more added FUN & interest, I also added a bonsai pug from Tyber Katz, clay mushrooms from Teresa's Plants & More and real dried spanish moss from my dear friends Tweedles & her mom, Georgie.

Nearby I have two tiny fiber terrariums also embellished with the dried spanish moss and my favorite paper clay pug sculptures made by my talented friend, Beth, at Brianna Blue Studio

and finally, I just found this tiny glass doggie that picks up and reflects the sunshine of the day on everything around it like a ray of smiles!

How Cool!

What are some of your favorite things around your house that make you smile or lift your day when you see and touch them?

Please leave us a note and let us know!

We would love to hear all about them!

Friends' Fabulous Art!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I am so excited to share the art my friends have been working on and were sweet enough to share with me.

My twin sister, Melanie, makes the most wonderful bears.

This is her newest creation handmade from mohair.
The bear is fully jointed and has beautiful glass eyes.

Isn't she wonderful!

My dear friend, Georgie, made Archie and me this gorgeous yarn painting!

I jumped up & down and clapped my hands when I saw it!

It is the most amazing piece and gift!  I cannot believe it is ours!

She even made us a yarn painting dragonfly and blue butterfly to float above Emmitt & make his Zen garden even more magical!

My friend, Lynne, crocheted this wonderful rainbow kitty from this fabulous free pattern she shared with me.

I cannot wait to make one too!

...and my friend, Pam M., shared her photos of her finished moss terrarium and succulents with me!

I just adore them!

Thank you so much for sharing your art with me!

I am so lucky to have all of you!

Please contact me anytime if you would like to share your projects with me!

I cannot wait to see them!

Creating Happiness ~ Make Your Own Zen

Hi everyone!

It is me... Archie!

I had fun helping my momma redecorate Angel Emmitt's Zen Garden today!

We added lots of Springy flowers and succulents, butterflies & dragonflies all made out of fiber!

Isn't it pretty?

I like that we put lots of yarn in Emmitt's garden as it was his favorite thing to play with too!

After we played in Emmitt's garden with him, we went downstairs into the kitchen and refreshed our live terrariums with new moss.

It is always fun to add to what we have already started as it seems to like what the first mosses left behind to grab onto and grow and grow and grow on the window sill in little spice jars.

Isn't it wonderful to know that all things that come before lay the fertile playgrounds for us to enjoy & thrive in today?

Just thinking about that makes me smile!

Thank you for playing with me today!

Crochet Succulents ~ Fiber Comes to Life!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I am sooo excited to show you the Succulent Plants I just crocheted!

The brillant patterns are from Planet June and they are a delight to make!

I cannot believe how life-like they are!

I used my favorite Amazing Yarn from Lion Brand and my "coffee and rocks" planters I made for my moss terriarums to plant them in!

The plants look so real I have picked them up twice already to water them when I water my real plants.  Tee Hee. :)

I am so excited about them that I may never buy a real plant again!

June is a true master at crochet, design and pattern writing!

If you have not visited her website, etsy shop or blog yet... Please do!

You will be delighted, inspired and so happy you did!

I have made several pots up already and have about 6 empty ones lined up to fill next!

I adore seeing them spring to life!

I will show them to you as soon as they are complete.

Here are the ones I have already done...

Archie is so happy that I am crocheting all of my plants now because soon he will not have to "help me" every Sunday morning when I gather up my living plants to water.

He would much rather that I stand still for a minute so that he could lay at my feet without having to follow me back and forth from room to room! :)

Silly puggy!

Doesn't he know by now that I am always moving from room to room? :)

What FUN things are you doing today?

Please leave us a note and let us know!

We cannot wait to hear all about your day!

Easy to Make ~ New Wool Terrariums!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I cannot believe March is here already!

Spring is just around the corner and new green plants will be sprouting everywhere!

Since Fred has the green thumb talents in our family, I decided to make 5 more wool moss terrariums to brighten up my room!

I love making real moss terrariums too, but these crocheted creations are even easier to take care of and look real with no water or care needed! :)

Here is the full tutorial I created including a free DIY pattern to follow.

I used my favorite yarn, Amazing Yarn, by Lion Brand to create them.

Please let me know if you make any!

I would love to see and feature them on my blog. :)

My friend Lynne in England just had a bash at it and sent me these fabulous photos of her completed terrarium!

Isn't it wonderful?

I just adore what she created!

What fun things are you creating right now?

Do you have a new favorite recipe or plan for your vegetable garden?

Please leave us a note and let us know what you are up to!

We would love to hear all about it!

Crochet Moss Terrariums ~ 2 New Additions

Hi everyone!

Archie and I have been having so much fun making more crochet moss terrariums!

They are so quick and easy to do that you can finish one in about an hour to decorate any room in your home or give as gifts.

I made 6 little moss clumps and put them in two different jars to create one for my family room and one for a gift for Melanie! :)

Here is the one I made for my family room.

I used this cool jar with a wooden lid that I found at GoodWill for $2!

The jar was a little bit bigger so it allowed for me to add a sea shell I found on a vacation from a few years back.

I also added some freeform crochet flowers to one of the clumps for a little extra color and texture.

I love making up shapes as I go.

I find it really exciting that I do not know what it will look like until I am done and the whole thing reveals itself like a surpise. :)

This is the one I made for Melanie. :)

I even put a little glass doggie in it for her that reminded me of Moe!

She just loves it!

She put it on her desk at her office so she can enjoy looking at it all day.

The best part is that they smell like a yummy coffee shop since the "dirt" is ground coffee.

FUN!

They keep us alert at work and we cannot kill them!

What more could we ask for?

Tee Hee!

If you would like to make one too, here is my tutorial and free pattern to make your own Crochet Moss Terrariums.

Please Let us know if you make one!

We would love to see!

Have a super day everyone!

New Terrariums ~ May 2011

Happy Monday everyone!

Archie & I had so much fun this weekend getting our paws dirty!

As Fred started working in his outdoor garden, I brought my dirt indoors to play with!

Look at all of these new terrariums I made to put in my kitchen!

I bought a few neat glass jars at Good Will for about $3 and then used a few sugar, salad dressing and canning jars I had in my cupboards to make my little moss gardens!

I got the clay mushrooms from a shop on etsy called Jade Flower and the moss came from my dear friend Georgie in OR and my favorite etsy shop Teresa's Plants & More!

I also found a few sea shells I have picked up on vacations over the years and placed them inside to look like little snails. :)

They were so fun to make, and I really do not have to anything to keep them alive and green!

I just make sure they are moist by lightly spraying them with a water bottle every few weeks.

It is very important that you do not over water them.

The terrariums have their own little eco-environment in there with the cap on to retain the moisture even a mile up here in Colorado!

It is the perfect little garden for me to not kill, and I get to enjoy them while I am indoors! :)

What fun things are you planting this season indoors and out?

Please leave a note and tell me all about it!

I cannot wait to hear!
