Melanie's Completed Afghan Blanket!

I am so excited to show you Melanie's completed lap afghan!
We started it this summer on our craft weekend retreats.
It was the perfect project to teach Melanie how to read a pattern, practice single, half double, double, and triple crochet stitches.
She also learned how to make a basic granny square, a bobble square and a flower square and sew them all together to form a blanket.
I am so proud of her! I love how it turned out!
When learning a new craft, it is very important to try lots of different hooks or needles to see which feels most comfortable. Getting the right tools can make a huge difference in the ease of making each stitch.

She found a wonderful set of crochet hooks made by Addi in Germany that really made it fun for her to keep working on her technique.
They have a comfort grip and are color coded by size for easy organization. Aren't they fun?

It is so fun to see Melanie learning to crochet and really enjoying it!

I will show you all the new projects she makes will he new set of Addi hooks.
What new projects are you working on? Please leave a comment and tell me all about them. I cannot wait to hear!

Melanie's blanket is gorgeous, I love the colours and the different textures. It will work really well as a throw.
Those crochet hooks look great, I am going to check them out as I am still using just the ordinary ones and they make your fingers ache.
Just finished my latest project which I put on my blog.

The blanket is beautiful - I love the colors too! It reminds me of the blankets that my grandma used to make.

Hi Melissa & Emmitt! The afghan is simply beautiful. It looks like Melanie has been crocheting for years.

I wonder what she's going to do with it. Do you think Moe will get to snuggle up in it?
