Friday Fun!

Today is going to be so much fun!

I get to meet my friend Alicia's new baby parrotlet, Julio!

Here he is taking a bath.

I am so excited to meet Julio. Parrotlets are very smart, sweet and funny creatures.

Alicia found Julio after meeting my Gilbert the last time she came to visit.

Here are two paintings I have done inspired by my love for Gilbert.
If you would like, you can see all of my parrotlet paintings on Parrotlet Art.

My Gilbert says Hello!

And so does Emmitt!

Here he is peeking down at me in the kitchen to see if I have a cookie for him.
Have a wonderful weekend!

My Favorite Fun Gadget!

Have you ever found a gadget that really does make your life easier? I am a big believer in cool gadgets. It is just hard to find ones that really are cool.
Well... The FlipFold is the coolest thing since sliced bread! Have you ever wanted your closet to look neat and tidy and have it stay that way?

I thought I would never achieve the neatness of department store t-shirt displays until I found the FlipFold! I know it is probably a strange wish to have, but as hard as I always tried to fold my shirts to the same size so that they would stack nicely, I could never do it. Same story with my linen closet. Sheets, towels, pillow cases, never stacked up nicely until I found this wonderful gadget! It folds all items, no matter what size they are into the same size at the end of the flipping process, pressing out air and kind of ironing them as you go!

First lay your shirt, back side up on the flipfold.

Then flip the right panel.

Next, flip the left panel.

Now you have both sides flipped in it is time to finish the fold by bringing the bottom up to meet the top.

Flip!

And now it is perfectly folded...

Ta Da!

When I got my FlipFold I literally took all of my shirts off their hangers and folded them neatly to stack on my shelf. I can easily find my shirts now and I saved a ton of space in my closet.

See... I can FlipFold all of my pugs! :)
Emmitt just watches me while I FlipFold all the laundry each week turning his little head from side to side. I think he can tell I am having fun, he just doesn't understand why! :)

Journal Pages

I had fun adding to my altered journal. I completed several pages with my photos from San Diego into a collage of memories.

I also added pictures of the pendants we just made which I think fit really well on this page spread. This book is almost complete and then I get to start another one.

Fun Pug Item from Etsy

I wanted to share this cute pug item I just got from Poly Polymer Clay Creations on Etsy. She hand makes each polymer cane with the pug image in the middle and then slices it to reveal the pug cookies! Her artwork is amazing and at $2.97, who could resist?

It has been way too long since I posted pictures of Emmitt, so here are a few...

Emmitt wishes you a wonderful day!

Pendant Collage Class

On Saturday, Melanie and I took a Pendant collage class at the Denver Art Museum. It was so much fun. The class was called Patchwork Pendants and in the two hours time, we made these wonderful pendants and saw the new travelling exhibit, Quilts from Gee's Bend.

Our instructor gave us lots of found objects, buttons, beads, origami paper and I had my business cards with me. Cut and mod podge that all together and you get a Pug Pendant from me and a Moe Dog Pendant from Melanie! I think everyone else's looked more like quilts at the end. Ha!

Here I am.

We have another class to learn netting our own bags at our favorite Boulder Yarn Shop in a couple of weeks. I cannot wait to see what we make!

Day 3 - La Jolla Shores and The Flower Fields

Melanie and I were born in Los Angeles and my grandparents lived in Michigan. They would come out to visit and rent a place in La Jolla Shores where we went to stay with them. La Jolla Shores is across the cove or bay from the La Jolla Cove. It is mostly residential and beaches.

Mel and I have wonderful memories of the summer when we were 3, staying with Grandma and Grandpa. We would play on the beach and walk the boardwalk, where we met our very first dogs that we were allowed to help walk. They were a pair of Dachshunds, Bruce and Charlie. Charlie was brown and Bruce was black and tan. Bruce was a little chubby with his tummy hitting the ground as we walked. :) It is hard to believe that that was about 37 years ago now!

Mel and I went back and found the boardwalk and some little shops that look like they have been frozen in time. It was a magical feeling to be back with Melanie. We stopped at a little coffee shop and look at their tables! My friend Rebecca will appreciate these mosaics, and I was thinking of my friend Moira when talking about the Dachshunds.

Here I am.

On our way back from the shores, we decided to stop off at the Carlsbad Outlet Shops. As we pulled in, our eyes got huge and said "What is that?!" When we saw the fields of color behind the mall. It was The Flower Fields and they only bloom this time of year. I could not stop taking pictures as we walked the rows of flowers. Here are a few of my favorite shots.

It was the perfect way to end a wonderful and successful trip. Melanie and I cannot wait to go back next year!
