New Tunisian Crochet Doll ~ Parakeet

Happy Monday everyone!

It is me...
Jimmie!

Archie asked me to blog today about the new Tunisian Crochet doll she just made of me!

He loves that momma makes us into fiber art.

He introduced us to his new pug doll last Wednesday so he wanted today to be my day to celebrate! :)

I think he is just excited that this little guy is not a chatterbox... yet!

I will teach him all of the new words and phrases I have learned so far!

Momma is having so much FUN teaching me to talk!

So far I say...

Jimmie is a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty bird!
and
Peek-a-boo!

and now she is trying to teach me...
Peek-a-boo, I see you
and
Hello Archie... I Love You!

She is always talking to me while she works so I think I will learn them in no time at all!

She is trying to get a recording of me talking for you to hear but every time she tries... I well... clam up! :)

Don't worry though!  I am not shy... I am just not quite ready to make my singing debut just yet! :)

I wanted to create some buzz first and well... I am good at making buzz noises and kiss noises so I promise it will happen soon!

Until then...
Here are some photos of my new doll being made for you to see and there is even a "silent" movie at the end that shows me meeting him for the first time!

So grab some popcorn and lets begin!

Here is the front of my doll in the first stages of construction and shaping.

The first thing she did was to make a flat Tunisian crochet rectangle in 3 colors for my body, head and back.

Then she folded the rectangle in half and sewed the sides together and stuffed it.

This is the back of the doll before any shaping has begun.

The next step was to make my legs and feet to sew in the bottom for me to dance with!

She wrapped yarn around floral wire and glued it in place with a thin layer of Unique Stitch fiber glue.

Ta Da!

I am ready to dance to the music!

Now I have wings & a tail to flutter around with too and my head is starting to take a rounder shape!

Now I am ready for more shaping of my crown, eyes, beak dots and dashes!

She is going to do this with glass eyes, elements of crochet, embroidery and needle felting!

Ta Da!

Here is my front!

...and here is my back!

...and here I am showing you my back too!

Wow!

I LOVE him!

Thank you momma!

Here is my short film of me meeting him for the first time.

I am not talking because Archie was busy announcing us! :)

Yay!

That was FUN!

What are you doing today to celebrate St. Patty's Day?

Please leave us a note and let us know!

We cannot wait to hear all about it!

Hi Melissa,
The parakeet is adorable! Both fiber and feathers :)
The Tunisian crochet looks nice, but I can't seem to master it. More practice, I guess.
I made some bears for Mother Bear Project and they turned out fairly well. Then at the request of friends, I made a pug and he turned out very cute. Maybe Archie would like his own pug?
