Crochet Embellishment Class ~ Vintage Pillowcase Dress Up!

Happy Monday everyone!

I had so much FUN completing my first project from the Crochet Embellishments Class taught online on Craftsy.com!

Linda Permann teaches us how to embellish all of our favorite crochet, knitting or sewing projects with crochet flowers, borders and more!

I have always wanted to add borders to towels, blankets and pillowcases.

In her easy to follow class, she takes us step by step through the process to add this fun & decorative detailing that will take any decor item from dull to FUN! :)

The first thing I did was hop over to Etsy.com to find a vintage pillowcase for my project.

I chose this neat woodland design that reminded me of a woodblock carving.

Then I added a embroidered blanket stitch around the edge of the pillowcase with cotton yarn so I would have loops to crochet my border into!

I used acrylic instead of wool yarn so that the whole project would remain machine washable.

My vintage pillowcase was not a standard size but not a king size either so I had a bit of extra fabric on the end after I put my pillow inside.

I decided to neaten that small problem up by folding the edge over and securing it with a vintage button so that I could easily remove the pillow. :)

I just LOVE how it turned out!

I cannot wait to make some of the flowers she shares with us in her other video tutorials and written patterns included in the crochet embellishment class.

I will show you all the fabulous things I make with them in 2013!

it is so wonderful to have a things "TO Make" list of fabulous projects just waiting for me to create.

2013 is going to be so much FUN!

What FUN things do you have planned for the New Year?

Please leave me a note and let me know!

I cannot wait to hear all about them!

The pillow case is the most beautiful pillow case that I have ever seen. I know you can hear the wind blow through the branches of those tall trees.
Your crocheted trim looks so nice on it.
