Meet The 1st Artist to ever Inspire Me!

Glass on Porcelain Pottery ~ circa 1980

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have a very special post to share with you today!

I want to introduce you to the 1st artist to ever inspire me...

My Grandma, Stella Cole.

She loved to make gorgeous pottery like the piece above.

I am so blessed to have this piece.

She also liked to weave and made these gorgeous pieces below...

Wool Weaving ~ circa 1979

Wool Pillows ~ circa 1979

Grandma always shared her love of life, art and family with Melanie and me.

She had a special way of loving you that made you feel how much she adored you and that has carried me with a warm hug my whole life by just thinking about her.

Grandma was the most special and talented person I have ever met, and I am so grateful for everything she taught me...

  • To love unconditionally
  • To create what you love and love what you create
  • To cherish those around you
  • and to laugh with and hug the ones you love everyday!

Friend's Fabulous Art!

Happy Thursday everyone!

I am so excited to show you my Christmas presents this year!

Fred got me the most wonderful gifts!

He knows how much I LOVE my friend Mehry's pottery and paintings so he went to her studio in Boulder and picked out these gorgeous vases for me!

I could not wait to fill them with air plants so I ran to the store and displayed them as soon as I open the packages!

They are so fabulous!

I cannot beieve they are mine!

I am celebrating the new pieces today with Melanie's teddy bear ornaments!

Thank you Fred, Mehry and Melanie for sharing your love, hearts, and art with me!

What wonderful gifities did you share and receive this year?

Please leave us a note and tell us all about them!

We cannot wait to hear!

Friend's Fabulous Art ~ Magical Gnomes & Capes!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today's post is so inspiring to me!

I love when you share your projects with me and R-Chee!

Here is a ceramic gnome that Melanie just finished painting!

She made him at our favorite paint it yourself pottery studio, Color Me Mine, in Boulder to make him!

He is so cute!

I love the colors she chose!

and my friend Lynne in England just finished a poncho after reading my Poncho Makeover Post with the free pattern from Lion Brand!

I just love the yarn she chose, flower and fringe detailing!
It is so FUN that even though we both have flowers and fringe on ours that the yarn and colors we chose can make it our very own!

What FUN things are you working on?

Please feel free to show me anytime as I would love to see & share your projects too!

Sister Craft Day ~ Ceramic Wings & Cheer!

Happy Thursday everyone!

Melanie and I have been having so much FUN meeting at the local Color Me Mine Ceramic Studio in Boulder and painting pottery together.

After making our dog bowls, we thought it would be neat to make these two pieces next.

I made a blue butterfly to hang on the wall and Melly made a tea cup!

I love how the glaze magically changes after it is fired in the kiln!

We are excited to go back for our next craft day!

It is so relaxing sitting and spending a couple of hours painting with Melanie.

We sit at the table right by the big front window and look out onto Pearl Street while paint. :)

I will take pictures for you of the next masterpieces we create!

My New Dog Bowl has Bigger Feet than Me!

Happy Thursday everyone!

It is me...
R-Chee!

My mom and auntie Melanie have been busy having FUN together!

They slipped out the other day while Moe and I were not looking and made us each a new dog bowl at the local pottery shop where you can paint pottery and they fire it for you!

Here is the bowl Auntie Melanie made for Moe...

...and here is the bowl my momma painted for me!

It has feet that are bigger than mine and a puggy tail!

How FUN!

They are meeting there again today!

I cannot wait to see what they make and I will be sure to show you in just a few days!

What FUN things are you up to today?

Please leave me a note and let me know!

Pinch Pots and Pugs!

Hi everyone!

I am so excited to show you the little pottery pieces Melanie and I made at Mudslinger's Pottery Studio.

We had so much fun!
Of course, I had to make another pug to add to my collection. :)

Now I have 4!

Melanie made these wonderful ornaments.
I think she is a natural potter. Her glazing skills are wonderful.

After making my pug statue, I starting making little pinch pots.
I felt like a kid at summer camp.
Now they are in my office holding my little owl dolls I made from scraps of fabric
and ...

and a voodoo doll from my friend Leann.

Making any kind of art makes me happy!

Emmitt says eating always makes him happy!

What is your favorite thing to do that makes you smile?
Please leave us a note and let us know.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

A Fun Find ~ Porcelain Dog Tiles on Etsy

Look what I just found on Etsy ... Porcelain Dog Tiles by Fauna Couture.

You can get them as pins, pendants or plain tiles to use in mosaics. Aren't they wonderful?

Melanie and I have signed up for a one day workshop to make Mosaic Birdhouses through the Boulder Valley Life Long Learning program.

We just purchased our pug and corgi tiles so we can use them to make our birdhouses on March 6th.

I cannot wait to show you how they turn out!

This will be our first workshop of 2010! We cannot wait to usher in Spring with our new birdhouses.
Do you have any fun classes or trips planned this year? Please leave a comment and tell us all about it!

Pottery ~ Pugs and Corgis ~ June 2009

Melanie and I went back to Mudslinger's Pottery Studio a couple of weeks ago and made more ceramic pugs and cardigan corgis.

We had so much fun! We made some last year in a class we took and wanted to make some more.

If you did not see them last year, here is Melanie's work and mine. :)

I was so excited to pick them up this morning. They were still warm from leaving the kiln.

The whole family...
