Friday Fun - A Teddy and a Tag!
is the most wonderful place to visit everyday. She is always creating something new and amazing and inspires me everyday!
- I love to ride my road bike for hours. I ride outside when it is nice out and inside on my trainer when it is cold or rainy. I don't ride everyday, but it is always fun when I get to go.
- I love coffee! Even just the smell makes me happy, happy!
- I am allergic to cats, but I think they are cool critters.
- I have had a pet bird since I was 10. I have had 3 parakeets, a love bird and now a parrotlet named Gilbert.
- I majored in psychology at the University of Michigan, but my favorite classes were Art History. HMMMM - What was I trying to tell myself back then? :)
- I was a picture framer for 15 years with a mobile shop of my own for 7 of those years.
I extend an open invitation to anyone who wants to play too. Please let me know if you make a list so I can come and read it too!
Have a great weekend!

Learning CSS
The new trend is to use Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) in your code to quickly make a change in one place and have it change throughout your site instead of opening each page and making the change 100 times. :)
I am currently taking an online Intro CSS class taught by Debbie Miller at Eclectic Academy. I am having a great time! We are in week 3 and I thought it would be fun to show you my progress.
In the first week she started to show us how to write code that creates styles that you define and then place that definition in your body of code where you want it to appear.
Here is a link to Week 1 where I inserted my Artist Statement and manipulated the header to center my name in green. :)
Week 2: I created a polka dot background, changed the colors in the header and navigation bar and added my pugs. Now it is starting to look more like my style of art and color.
Week 3: We learned about external style sheets, text, border, margin and picture controls to space and place things with precision.
We still have 3 more weeks of class so I will keep you updated on my progress. Microsoft has stopped writing updates to FrontPage and has created a new web designer called Expression Web which supports CSS and many other things that FrontPage had trouble with.
I have just enrolled in the July session of Eclectic Academy to learn Expression Web. I am very excited to dive in and learn new things to take my website, http://www.pugnotes.com/
to the next level.

Meet our Newest Pug Friends and an Award
She is a very smart puggy who lives in Canada. She has a wonderful blog called Clover's Adventures that shows us all the new things she is learning and doing everyday.
Emmitt says, he does not know how to swim, but this is what he would do if he knew how and had a pool!

New Black Pug Tape Measure
Just like her fawn brother, her ear pulls out to reveal the measuring tape and you push her nose to retract it.
My finger puppets and tape measures are having a pawty!
They would love to go home with you!

Netting 101
We had the best time last night! Melanie met me after work and we spent the time before class shopping at our 3 favorite stores, PetSmart, TJ Maxx, and Michaels! We got great stuff for the animals, new gym shorts for $12 and craft supplies before heading to the YARN Store. Our Favorite!
We spent the evening learning how to net, which is basically making a fisherman's net or knots into a bag. It was sooooo fun and relaxing. I compare it to crochet with a shuttle instead of a hook. It reminding me of the weaving class we took last fall.
The history of this art is amazing. We could have had just a class on that all night. We really had fun, and we get to go to another class next Thursday night. Before then, I plan to have this bag complete and a new one started from scratch.
Here is the bag with the first few rounds complete. You net with tension on the piece so our teacher, Margaret, had them suspended from upside down table legs. Pretty clever!
Here is my bag so far with the shuttle hanging from my kitchen cabinet for tension. :)
I bought lots more cotton yarn for more bags! I will keep you posted on my progress!

Friday Fun!
Here he is taking a bath.
Alicia found Julio after meeting my Gilbert the last time she came to visit.
Here are two paintings I have done inspired by my love for Gilbert.
If you would like, you can see all of my parrotlet paintings on Parrotlet Art.
Here he is peeking down at me in the kitchen to see if I have a cookie for him.
