Mother Bear Project - A New Bear

Emmitt has lots to say about our new crocheted bear donation for the Mother Bear Project.

He says he had lots of fun guarding all the yarn while I was crocheting.

He loves to lay right on the skeins as I work. Silly Pug!

Yay! I am ready to go to my new home!

The pattern comes in a knit or crochet version and is so fun and easy to make. Here is this bear in progress.

I hope to be able to make a few more by January. It is fun to think about the 1,000's of donated bears flying on a plane to Africa and being given to the wonderful children.

Please visit the Mother Bear Project. Everyone can contribute even if you do not knit or crochet.

Happy Thursday everyone!

Your bear is adorable. Thanks for the info on the project. I know about several other knit/crochet projects(shawls, blankets, bandages, etc.) but this is new and I will go to get the patterns.

What wonderful photos of the children with their bears. If that doesn't melt a heart, I don't know what will. Mom likes your bear's face. It is multicolored and she thinks that is really, really, neat.

What beautiful children...and how happy they look with their bears. That's heartwarming and a wonderful thing you're doing, M. I love your latest bear too...it's a brindle bear like Maisie!

Emmit, you crochet so well! Your Mum should take note. You guys have the biggest hearts! We wish our Mum had some talent like that but she is a lefty and has had a hard time figuring this crochet business out. So she cross-stitches and needlepoints. (Yeah, like some kid wants a needlepoint bear! BOL!)

Love, Dozer

Aw! Emmitt is so cute modeling with the bear, and so are those kids!!
I just love those bears and I would really love to make some.
I am "beginner" with knitting - I can knit dishcloths and scarves. LOL. Do you think I would be able to knit one of those bears?
Jess (Not Clover, she can't knit at all.)

What a wonderful project. I am going to pull out all of my yarn & ship it off for a donation. Thanks so much for this great post. How can you not participate when you see results like this little guy pictured above?? Bless his little heart & all of the people that have participated in this.
xoxo Diane

Melissa, the bear you made a few weeks ago inspired me to learn to knit and make bears, too! I ordered the pattern and found knitting a bit too difficult, so I switched to crochet and have been muddling along trying to learn. It is much easier than knitting (for me at least... one needle instead of two LOL) but I am AMAZED at your beautiful stitches. I can't even see my stitches, it all looks like one big yarn knot spewing off my hook ROFL. Oh well, I'm going to keep trying and hopefully I will get a nice bear out of this to send to Africa.

Thank you for posting the pictures of your bears (they are an inspiration to us beginners!) and making us aware of this WONDERFUL project! :o)
