and this year it went crazy with apples!
Emmitt LOVES apples!
I saved one for him. :)
First we washed, chopped and cooked the apples down covered, for about 2 hours on low with just about 3/4 cup of water on the bottom of the pot.
You can see we even left all the peels on and did not even add any sugar. These apples are not particularly sweet, but the applesauce is delicious!
When they were all cooked down, Fred got out the emersion blender and mushed them into a wonderul chunky sauce.
Yummy!
It is a good thing that it is yummy because I think we have enough to feed the whole state of Colorado. :) Our downstairs freezer is stuffed to the top with packages of applesauce!
Emmitt and I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all of your wonderful wishes for Oscar, Jodi, Rich and us. We all loved Oscar with all of our hearts.
Emmitt is sending you lots of pug kisses to say thank you for your love and support. It means the world to us.

When I go visit I eat as much as I can and then bring back homemade jelly.

Good Morning! I woke up to your wonderful apple pictures... and my favorite of Emmitt with the apple CUTE! I am telling you Melissa, we are totally in synch lately, not only did we go applepicking on Sunday but we made applesauce and applecrisp! I wish I could say that we picked from our own backyard, we do have 2 trees but they are still young and only yielded three. =) Instead we visit one of the 4 beautiful orchards that reside in our town. Thanks for sharing and enjoy! =)

Hi Melissa,
I've been out of town and out of touch....so sorry to hear about Emmitt's friend Oscar...I hope Jodi is doing ok.
Secondly on a happier note, what a cute little video of Emmitt. can he actually bite into and eat a whole apple or does he just lick at it?? I know my Tzus wouldn't be a able to bite through. LOL They do that all the time, licking, licking, licking...
Ruth
Yum! I love applesauce! Please thank Emmitt for the wonderful kisses. Charlie and Ollie lick my husband all of the time, I always say they are softening him up to eat him later.
Puggy kisses from us!
