Melanie and I had so much fun on our craft weekend retreat. We spent 2 1/2 days at her cabin in the mountains crocheting, sewing and shopping!
On our way to her house, we stopped at a local thrift store and found treasures that we are so excited about!
Look at all of these sweaters we found for $4 each that Mel felted and cut up to make her bears.
The purple one on top is cashmere which is an extra special bonus!
We also found these fun and very warm vintage ski mittens for shoveling snow. They were only $2 per pair!
After our success at the thrift store, we arrived at her house and started crafting.
Here is Melanie cutting up sweaters to make bear parts.
and here are a bunch of wool bears ready to be stuffed!
While Melanie was working on her bears, I started working on the Mother Bear Project bears I started last week. Here they are with their newly crocheted arms waiting to be sewn and stuffed.
After Melanie was done sewing her bears, I showed her how to join the squares she has been creating for her afghan. Now it is all joined and just needs a border. It is almost done!
Boy, that was alot of crafting! Now it was time to go shopping again!
On Saturday, we went to Granby and visited the quilt store where I got the Pomp-A-Doodle yarn I showed you yesterday. :)
Then we headed up the block to ACE Hardware. They were having a 20% off sale of anything you could fit into their paper bags.
Melanie and I love a challenge so we picked the two largest things we could find, a rug and a snow shovel!
Guess what... we made them fit and got our discount!
The new rug!
So as soon as we got back, we started crafting again. I could not wait to use my new pom pom yarn for my bears.

Here they are ready for some smiles to be embroidered on. :)
What a great weekend!
Tomorrow I will show you what Melanie and I got at the annual Boulder Weaver's Guild Fiber Art Sale we went to last Thursday. I just love this time of year! There is always an art show or sale to be found!
What shows have you been to in your part of the world? I would love to hear all about them and what you found!

Hi Melissa & Emmitt! You guys have too much fun on your craft weekends. Mom says that shopping, crafting, and hanging out sounds like a great way to spend the weekend. I think you guys should have a dog retreat weekend.
