Cardigan Corgi Art DollIntroducing the second doll in my new collection of fiber art made from my original carvings.

I also wanted to let you know how I made my fabric labels for the back of the dolls.
I just make them on my computer. I set these up in Microsoft Publisher, but Microsoft Word works great too. The size I used is 1/2 x 1 3/4 which prints 80 labels per sheet. Then I print them onto inkjet fabric paper and cut them out and sew them on.
My favorite type of fabric paper is June Tailor "sew on" 100% cotton paper, and I get it from Michaels. The package looks like this...
Voila! Easy Peezy!

ReplyDeleteSo cute! I like the idea for the labels.. I'll eventually be needing curtains and flooring for the crate the cats stay in during the cat shows. I'm probably going to take Virus along on my own and then I'll be unable to borrow. (All my cat-friends live across the country) Now I got a really cute idea printing pictures to add to the curtains.. But I'm not likely to sew them myself.. I really can't sew..

ReplyDeleteGoodness...I miss a couple days of commenting here at your blog and WHOA...you have been one very, very, very busy person! I love the new corgi and pug pillows. I just learned about Spoonflower, too...they are awesome! Just think of the possibilities. Say, I have a question re: your fabric labels. When you put water directly onto them and let it soak in..do the colors bleed? Cuz, the computer fabric I used when I did a sample test w/water...it did bleed overnite. If you do a test, would you let me know, pretty please?

your corgis are super cute. thanks for the info on the labels! i just bought some printed treasures fabric to try from joann's the other day, so i will let you know how that turns out. i got that instead of the june tailor one because i don't think joann's had the washable kind of the june tailor brand. i have been meaning to try this for a while...thanks for the tips!

ReplyDeleteAfter the holiday rush is over, I'm *so* ordering one of these for myself *G* Is there any small chance though, they could be done on a brown fabric, instead of white? White doesn't do well at all in my surrounded by mud Oregon home!
