Happy Wednesday everyone!
I just finished another yarn painting!
I cannot tell you how fun and easy this is to do!
You do not need to know how to draw, knit or crochet to make these!
All you need is a board, some glue, yarn scraps, sharp scissors and a bone folder to help place & burnish the cut yarn.
I made this one from a photograph of Melanie's Corgi Moe!
The first thing I did was to print a photo of Moe.
I glued it to a board
I burnish each piece of yarn down with the bone folder after I lay it on the strip of gel glue. I gently push it up against the previous row and snip it at the end with the sharp scissors to the correct length.
I think it really changed from a photo to a painting when I filled in the eyes.
I think it adds more interest when I change some areas from horizontal to vertical yarn placement.
The final step was to put in the background which I also filled in with both horizontal and vertical yarn placemant to add flow and texture.
I will definitely have more yarn paintings to show you soon.
The cheeks and ears are done and now for the nose & body...
Here I am working on the body.
I think it adds more interest when I change some areas from horizontal to vertical yarn placement.
The final step was to put in the background which I also filled in with both horizontal and vertical yarn placemant to add flow and texture.
The process is simple, fun and relaxing.
This 8 x 10 inch project took me about 20 hours over several days to complete.
You can go as fast or slow as makes you happy!
I had so much fun making this for Melanie & Mark that I promptly made another yarn painting of my pug, Emmitt. I call it "Pug Love". Please click here if you would like to see how I made it.
I will definitely have more yarn paintings to show you soon.
