They are so fun and easy to make. In just a few minutes, you can create something that makes you smile while you are making it and everytime you look at it. :)
- Place your pencil on your paper and close your eyes.
- Imagine something in your mind (I usually choose pugs or corgis :))
- With your eyes closed start moving your pencil to create what you see in your mind but do not lift your pencil from the paper or open your eyes.
- Relax, have fun and open your eyes.
Voila! Your little blind drawing is done!
Now grab your favorite colored pencils and color it in. I use Inktense watercolor pencils and then add a little water with my brush to make it into a little painting.
I made these last week on the ship...
"Pug Love"
"Pug Party"
"Pug Patience"
"Corgi Doodle"
They are so much fun to make and only take a few minutes.
Don't give up if you do not immediately appreciate what you see. :)
I often draw 10 or 20 before I see something puggy. I often just color them in for the fun of it to see how they change. I am always pleasantly surprised. :)
Please let me know what you create! I would love to see!
These are so much fun! Your Corgi is cracking me up!
ReplyDeleteI think that first doodle looks like me :)
ReplyDeleteRosie
My favorite is the pug party! You are too talented!
ReplyDeletePug hugs and kisses!
The Pug Posse
Are you sure you're not peeking? LOL! I just tried making a cat, and it really wasn't half bad! Now try it with the paper on your head - I used to do that with my Girl Scout troop!
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
ReplyDeleteI think my mom just doesn't have the "art gene". She closed her eyes and tried to draw me, but it just looks like a messed up Jackson Pollock picture...only not as cool.
Mum is going to try this tonight and then she will scan it for our blog. We love the corgi! It looks just like Dottie!
ReplyDeleteLove, Dozer, Dottie and Cooper
I love Pug Party and the Corgi. So cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to give it a try but I'm not a good at drawing so I'm not sure what will come up.
Sue
Thank you for telling me you do more than one until you get one that you want to color. I was going start thinking you either had a pug spirit guiding your hand or other mystical help for these awesome drawings! hugs!
ReplyDeleteI do this from time to time too, mostly I do faces. Do you color them in with your eyes open or shut?

Those are cute. I did it, I tried it out, two turned out cute, one i cheated and edited him a bit after I opened my eyes, he's really neat, I'll take pictures of them tonight and put them on my blog so you can see.
ReplyDeletefun fun fun
ReplyDeleteThey're so cute.. I can't draw with my eyes open, but perhaps I should give it a go anyways ;)
ReplyDeleteAne
these are SOOO cool! Great job. Makes me want to try some in my sketchbook.
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa and Emmitt - I left you an award on my bolg :)
ReplyDeletethose are really cute. I am afraid that you have a much better connection b/w your brain and your hand, blinded or not, than I ever could have. I can't imagine what a blind drawing would be from my hand - I can't even draw a decent sighted one:(
ReplyDeleteHey Melissa!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have a question..while your eyes are closed and pencil is down and the art begins...do you ever lift up the pencil? Or is this exercise one continuous motion? Can you cheat and feel where the pencil is before you pick it up? LOL I'm gonna give this a whirl! Sounds way TOO fun! I guess I'll try both techniques..continuous and pick up! Wish me luck.
Have a good day!
Joan & Skippy
hi tara!
ReplyDeletei color with my eyes open. :)
hi joan!
oh it is so fun! in theory the exercise is one continuous motion but my school of thought is to have fun! there is not cheating just creating!
i cannot wait to see what you all make.
