Terrariums - Little Green Rolling Landscapes

Moss Terrarium by GnomeHomes

Moss Terrarium by MadebyMavis

I am so excited!

I just purchased two moss terrariums from two wonderful sellers on Etsy, MadebyMavis and GnomeHomes. One of the terrariums came with little mushroom decorations. I have my eye on a tiny owl from Mudpuppy for the second one. :)

Now I have two little green ecosystems in my house. I put one on my desk and one in my favorite room to hang out in when I am not working. They are very easy to take care of. All you do is mist them once every 2-3 weeks and keep them in indirect light with their lids on.
I love moss and I hope my thumbs will turn some shade of green just this once to keep them happy and healthy.
I really enjoy shopping on Etsy and all the art you can find there! I will have more purchases to show you soon. They are gifts and I do not want to spill the beans too early. :)
Happy Wednesday Everyone!

  1. How delightful! I might be able to actually keep them alive. I am notorious for killing plants. I even killed a cactus once. :(

Aaaah, I have been drooling over some beautiful terrariums on Etsy since Christmas - maybe I will buy one for myself if I meet my weight loss goal this month - that sounds like a good reward, right?
Thanks for sharing - now I have some new sellers to scour!

  5. What wonderful terrariums Melissa...I love them, thanks for telling us about this seller, I'll have to check her out. The variety of art on ETSY simply blows my mind, just when you think you've seen it all, something still comes along to surprise you.

By the way, love the doodles from a couple of posts below, they are wonderful. You and your sister are doing a faboulous job.

  7. Mum remembers when terrariums were really popular in the 1970's. Since we live in Oregon we are thinking about going outside and getting Mum some moss so she can make one for us. We checked but Mud Puppy doesn't have any teeny cats to put in the terrarium to chase. Maybe Mum can make us one!

  13. Mom is a black thumb. If you get her an indoor plant, she kills it. Seriously, she forgets to water it. She is okay with outside plants, but no indoor stuff for her.

  15. ooooooohhhhhh I love those terrariums. The GnomeHomes are precious!!! I'll have to check out that site for sure. Oh I should have thought to put on my 101 list to get a gnome. I've wanted one for years and years and years. My step mother has some precious old ones. I think I'll make an addendum to my list. I'm sure I could swap out something. Heee. I love that I can take creative license.

  18. Those are very nice. I tried to do terrariums years and years ago and always ruined and killed them. Just mist them, eh? Maybe that was the problem.

    Happy Wednesday to you too.

  25. We love those terrariums! We love moss. Long haired moss, short haired moss- curry moss. Mom tried colleting her own years ago , but the moss was not happy for some reason when it came into the house. Maybe there is magic potion that makes them grow. Little itty bitty owl is precious. Reminds me of Owlbert.
Thanks for sharring - again and again.
