I love that it is for everyone. Some people are creative in their cooking, parenting, cleaning, writing, blogging, painting, drawing or gardening. Whatever it is that makes you feel good, this is a place to appreciate that thing and to take the opportunity to look at it in a different way. To truly appreciate it and share it with the world if you would like to.
Leah Piken Kolidas created the Creative Everday Challenge in 2008 to help infuse her life and the lives of others with daily creativity. Here is the story of how it began.
I have joined the challenge and felt inspired to create some quick pug drawings with my new inktense pencils for fun.
The first group were done as fast sketches with my eyes open and then I colored them in.
The blind drawings are so fun because you have no idea where your hand is in space. You just close your eyes and draw without lifting up your pencil. I am always amazed how puggy my blind drawings are even when I have no idea what will appear. They are truly freeing and fun.
If you have time, please visit Mim and Leah and check out their blogs. They both inspire me to look at my world in a different way which is always fun.
Please let me know if you sign up to take the challenge. It is not something formal you have to do everyday. It is fun and can be just for you even when you are driving home from work and you appreciate something from your day. A note to self to make you smile. :)
You draw better with your eyes closed than I do with mine open! How adorable - are you sure you didn't peek? I think you definitely have the creative gene!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun! I'll check out Mim and Leah's blog later today!
ReplyDeleteMelissa, thanks for sharing, I will definitely check this out. I like your blind drawings, on my last journal we studied the powerful healing effects of blind skulpting and painting. your blog is always such a joyful journey.
