A Tribute to Oscar...

Sweet Oscar

April 4, 1996 - October 4, 2008

This post is dedicated to Oscar, Emmitt's best friend in the whole world.

Oscar and Emmitt met when they were just puppies in puppy kindergarden in Boulder, CO.
It was a bright, sunny day. Oscar's mom, Jodi and I followed our puggies as they romped over to each other from across the lawn. Not only did Oscar and Emmitt's meeting bring them each a life long friend, but Jodi and I connected too and soon became family.

Here are Jodi and Oscar enjoying a BBQ at our house in 2007. He was a beautiful puggy with a huge heart and smile to match.

Here are Emmitt and Oscar when they were about 1 1/2 and 2 years old.

Here they are relaxing and smiling together about 10 years later in 2007.

Oscar loved to come to "Camp Emmitt" and run around and play in the backyard.

Oscar was the dearest, smartest and sweetest pug we have ever met.

Jodi and I were always laughing from things he would do. He loved roast beef, tummy rubs from his mom and dad, and to sing with joy when he saw them walk into a room. When Jodi and Rich would come to pick him up from "Camp Emmitt" he would sing and sing inbetween breaths from his mom's big hugs.

We were blessed to have him in our family and he will be thought of with joy and laughter everyday.

We love you Oscar!

  8. Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. Your prayers and warm thoughts mean so much during this difficult time. Oscar was my best friend and we shared a lifetime of wonderful memories together. He was always there for me and made me laugh even during the worst times; I feel so very blessed to have had the fortune to share my life with him. I'm convinced that he was really my angel in pug's clothing. :o)

Melissa and Fred were so loving and always offered their home to Oscar when we went away. And Emmitt would always welcome Oscar with a smile and big howl! I would never consider leaving my boy with anyone else.

I also am so very grateful to have Rich. He has been incredibly supportive and a source of strength for me. I know he misses Oscar as much as I do.

I will always remember Oscar as a sweet, kind, gentle soul with a very dry sense of humor! I learned so much about love from him and now picture him on a big, fluffy cloud in Heaven with all his doggie friends eating an endless bowl of roast beef!!

That is a great tribute, Melissa. Like others have said - we are never ready to say goodbye to these fur angels, but it's best to look back at the time we had with them as the really happy, wonderful times they were. Emmitt will miss his best friend, no doubt, but you all have wonderful memories of him to keep forever.
