Friday Funnies ~ Am I Bugging You?

Happy Friday everyone!

It is me...
Archie!

I am smiling because I am hanging out with my dad in the backyard today!

Hey dad...

I have a suprise for you!

A surprise attack that is!

Slurp, Slurp, Kiss, Slurp!

Hmmmm...

Something tastes funny!

Ooooo!

My tongue is feeling kind of tingley and numb!

Plegh!
Plegh!

I have been bug sprayed!

Who puts bug spray behind their ears?

Plegh!

Hey dad!

Was that supposed to be bug repellant or PUG repellant?

Phooey!

Now I cannot feel my tongue!

I sure hope this wears off before our evening BBQ!

What FUN things do you have planned this weekend?

Please leave me a note and an antidote for BUG - PUG OFF if you have one!

Tee Hee!

Friend's Art ~ Inspiring Yarn Painting

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I am soooo happy and thrilled to show you the new yarn painting my friend Lynne just did!

She said the yarn paintings I have made over the last couple of years inspired her to try one of her own.

She recently peeked at my yarn painting tutorial and made this amazing landscape from a stained glass pattern she found.

I love that you can create yarn paintings from absolutely any photo, drawing, abstract design or image that inspires you.

Any age of artist from child to adult can make gorgeous art pieces in just a few hours and enjoy the process every step of the way!

Lynne recently found this wonderful blog post about creating yarn paintings on round paper plates

I cannot wait to make one of those next!

Ta Da!

I love the yarn colors and textures she chose in every layer!

Can you believe she has never tried yarn painting before?

It is truly amazing!

Thank you so much Lynne for sharing it with all of us!

Please contact me anytime if you have art to share with me.

I would LOVE to see what you are working on!

Archie's New Pug Cave!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

It is me...
Archie!

I am so excited!

I am reporting to you from my very own...

PUG MAN CAVE!

My Momma and Dad just created it for me in their new basement space!

Ta Da!

This is my very own Pug Cave Bed!

I saw the Pug Man Cave my friend Zack got from his momma Tracy in NM and I went on strike until I got one too!

Zack is my inspiration and hero!

Let me take you on a little tour of the new space!

The basement use to be my mom's mobile frame shop when she had one about 10 years ago, and she decided it was time for the work tables to go away and the comfy home space to be created near the big beautiful window they have down there.

It used to be perfect space to work and now it is perfect to relax in for the whole family including me!

My momma is so excited about our new space.  It is about 10 to 15 degrees cooler down there in the Summer which will be great for those really hot nights she just cannot sleep.  Dad sleeps through anything I tell ya, but she wakes up and just starts working on stuff.  I always follow her to keep her company, so maybe now she will be inspired to lay back down for a few extra winks of sleep. :)

She decorated the space for about $13 if you can believe it!

The twin beds were generously given to us by Fred's mom who was changing some things in her own house.

Then we had one set of vintage sheets and found another set of king sized ones at GoodWill for $8.  She cut the fitted sheet on a diagonal and made the two bed skirts by placing one triangle half on either L of the bed configuration!

Then she used the poppy pattern king pillow shams that her MIL gave us as window treatments by nailing them up to the window panes!

We already had all of the little pillows and rugs and pictures upstairs in different rooms so she gathered them up and started decorating!

Isn't that FUN?

See my little bed?
The exciting part is that I get to keep finding stuff to decorate my pug cave, but I already have my very own vintage bedspread, pug pillow and welcome sign!

Then as a treat, my momma bought herself her favorite IKEA shelf brackets for $5 that she has wanted forever, but just never had a good place to put them until now!

We even had the white wood shelf left over from disassembling the frame shop to put on the orange circle brackets!

See the new Sunflower Owl Pillow my momma told you about yesterday?

Well, this is the new special space she put it in!

She is happily busy making more pillows that you can see the beginnings of on the little IKEA shelf.

We will be able to show them to you soon decorating the day beds!

So what do you think of my new Pug Man Cave?

Please leave me a note and let me know!

You are all invited over anytime to come and play in it with me!

My Sunflower Owl Pillow

Happy Monday everyone!

I am so excited to show you my New Sunflower Owl Pillow!

He is a hybrid of two patterns I just love.

One is the FUN Owl Pillow pattern I purchased on Etsy and the other is a FREE pattern I found online for a Record Pillow!

I loved the ribbed circular design so much that I used it for the owl's tummy instead of making it into a fabulous record like my friend Lynne did!

It is so cute that I cannot wait to make one of those too!

I had so much FUN using my new self striping wool yarn that I purchased from Universal Yarn!

The one I chose is called Apple Orchard!

I wanted to decorate his tummy so I made a sunflower design which is inspired by the wonderful art my friend, Nancy Medina, creates!

Everything she paints makes me so happy that this sunflower just magically appeared from my hands & crochet hooks!

...and of course I had to add the sleepy eyes, feet and wings to this owl too as I did to the first and second owl pillows I made!

I just love how he turned out and now he lives in a very special space that I will unveil to you tomorrow!

Fred and I have been busily creating it over the last few weeks.

We have kept it quiet as it is a special place that is a surprise for R-Chee too!

See you tomorrow!

Friday Funnies ~ Outside Monkey... Where Are You?

Happy Friday everyone!

It is me...
Archie!

I have a mystery I am trying to solve!

Maybe you can help me!

See... this morning I brought my favorite "Outside Monkey" toy in the backyard to play with...

We were having a good time playing hide and seek!

Then I ran inside to get a drink of water and when I came out again all I could find was this stick!

Oh where Oh where did my Outside Monkey go?

Oh where Oh where can he be?????

Do you think the bunnies came and got him and left this stick as a clue?

What do you think I should do?

Should I follow the direction where the stick is pointing or is it a clever bunny trap?

What do you think I should do?

All I want is my Monkey back!

I do not want any trubble!

Help!
Any suggestions you have would be sooooo appreciated!

A Sensational Sunset ~ Smokey Rocky Mountain Scenery

Happy Thursday everyone!

It is me...
Archie!

Oh my Goodness!

What I am i going to do with my pawrents?

Now they both have these black box things that keep flashing!

Momma took this photo of me while Dad was on the roof capturing the sunset!

The sunsets and sunrises are extra vibrant these days with the smoke in the atmosphere from the High Park Fire several miles north of us in Fort Collins, CO.

My pug nose can smell the smoke here in Boulder.

It reminds me of a campfire so I will pull out this stick and see if dad puts a hot dog on it for me!

What FUN things are you doing today and this evening?

Please leave me a note and let me know!

I cannot wait to hear all about them!

My New Handmade Camera Case!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I am so excited to show you the new camera case I just made for the amazing gift Fred just gave me!

He has been searching for a very beginner SLR camera for me to learn so I can spend time with him on photography field trips!

He found a used Nikon D-40 on Ebay for a great price, and it is perfect for me!

I can even use some of his lenses on my camera and he can always use my camera as a backup if he needs one!

He is so sweet!

He smiled when I told him I have a surprise to show him too...

The new padded camera case I just made to protect my new camera!

I think he is very relieved that I did not get him a set of crochet hooks to share my favorite craft too! :)

I made up the design from some 1" high density foam scraps I bought at Joann Fabrics for $4 and some fabric from my stash!

This is the finished box complete with little fabric covered foam bumpers to hold it tightly in place.

Here is how I made it...

I cut the high density foam into 7 pieces...

bottom:
one 7" square

sides:
two 7" x 3" rectangles
two 5.5" x 3 rectangles

small bumper dividers for the lens
two 3" x 1.5"

I wrapped the foam like little gift boxes with the dot fabric & hand sewed it into place.
Then, I placed them on a 24" square piece of red fabric with an inch of space between them.
And although my little drawing does not show it very well, the top few inches of fabric was folded flush with the top of the foam rectangles to provide a nice edge to whip stitch the top of the box to the foam pads during finishing.

To get rid of extra fabric I did not need in the corners of the box, I cut squares out of the corners of the 24" bottom fabric square.

Finally, I folded up the sides and whipped stitched everything together into a solid box.

Ta Da!

To carry around my new camera box, I pulled out a knitted bag I made in 2006 and shoved it in!
I am so excited that it works perfectly to hold it as my new camera bag!

Isn't it FUN?

Tomorrow I will show you the results of my first photo shoot with Melanie's little bird, Ollie!

He was the perfect little model!
