Happy Friday everyone!

I am so excited to show you the new wool felt coasters and mouse pad I just got!

I got them in an wonderful shop on Etsy called Feltplanet.

You can choose from 24 different colors!

I picked my favorite color... orange!

Although he does also make an actual 10.5" mouse pad, I chose his 9" trivet instead because of desk space and it works great!

Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner Blog Hop Week #4 - Paper Wrapped Mat

Hi Everyone!

Happy Thursday!

I am so excited to be a part of this fabulously fun & creative Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner Blog Hop hosted by the incredibly talented celebrity design expert, author, national TV host, and syndicated columnist, Kathy Peterson.

Until February 3rd, 7 diverse designers will be making fun and easy projects for you to enjoy. We will all be using the Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner to create 5 projects each from images of objects that are normally too large or awkward to scan on a conventional scanner.

Here is a review of what we have made so far...

Today, for week 4, we will make ...

~Wrapped Mats with our own custom made papers! ~

I love incorporating my favorite things that I surround my home with to create new things to enjoy.
The Flip-Pal mobile scanner is the perfect tool to do this!

Here are two of my absolute favorites...
My Pug, Emmitt
and my wool kitchen rug. :)

I made the design for my mat by using my Flip-Pal to scan my kitchen rug and cropped the image to the size of my mat.
In this case I made a 4 x 6 image and printed it on 8.5 x 11 piece of inkjet paper.

I cut the white borders off of the image and used a glue stick and a bone folder to glue down and smooth the paper onto the mat.
** I actually glued the paper onto the back of the mat so that the beveled edge would not be the side that was wrapping for a cleaner look.

You can use a ready cut mat from the hobby store or have a framer cut the size window you would like for your picture.
In my case, I had a 1" x 1.25" window cut into my 4 x 6 mat.

This is what it looked like from the front when I was done gluing down my custom made paper.

... and this is what it looks like from the back.

Place your mat on a friendly cutting surface and use your sharp utility knife to cut an X from corner to corner of your paper through the mat opening.

Use your glue stick to apply a thin layer of glue above each flap.
Fold and burnish down each triangle flap to the mat.

Flip over your mat and ...
Voila!
It is wrapped!

Easy smeasy and super fun!

Now just secure your favorite photo to the back of the mat which remember...
you can also use your handy Flip-Pal mobile scanner to capture & preserve if you do not want to frame your original photograph.

Ta Da!
Emmitt is now surrounded by my favorite rug and there is no pug hair or vacumming necessary to enjoy either one!
Tee hee!

The Flip-Pal mobile scanner makes it so easy to create fun and interesting images from your favorite quilts, dolls, rugs, photos, etc.

**Exciting News!**

The kind & creative people at Flip-Pal are hosting a Giveaway of their fabulous mobile scanners!

Please register on their blog for your chance to win!

Please hop over and visit the 6 other wonderful designers to see what they have created with their Flip-Pal Mobile Scanners this week...

Tune in next Thursday, February 3rd for my Week 5 project using the Flip-Pal Mobile Scanner.
Please let me know if you make any of these fun and easy wrapped mats.

I would LOVE to see them!
